U.S. President Donald Trump has once again taken aim at late-night television hosts — this time targeting NBC’s Seth Meyers, calling him a “deranged lunatic” on his TruthSocial platform.
Trump criticized Meyers for his political views and on-air commentary, accusing NBC of making a poor decision by continuing to employ him. The former president wrote, “Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this???”
Trump Slams Meyers’ Talent and Ratings
In a follow-up post, Trump escalated his criticism, calling Meyers “the least talented person to perform live in television history.”
He added, “In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise.”
Trump also claimed — in all caps — that Meyers’ criticism of him could somehow be illegal:
“NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI-TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”
The comments sparked immediate online reactions, with many defending Meyers while others supported Trump’s remarks.
Ongoing Feud with Late-Night TV Hosts
This is not the first time Trump has publicly clashed with late-night personalities. Earlier this year, he lashed out at Jimmy Kimmel following remarks the ABC host made about Charlie Kirk’s assassination comment. Trump’s online attacks reportedly led to Kimmel’s temporary suspension from Jimmy Kimmel Live!, though he was reinstated shortly after widespread backlash against Disney, the parent company of ABC.
Trump also took aim at Jimmy Fallon, demanding that NBC cancel The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In a post, he labeled both Fallon and Meyers as “two total losers” for their criticism of him and accused NBC of spreading “Fake News.”
Background: Trump’s Tense Relationship with the Media
Donald Trump’s confrontations with TV networks and hosts have been a consistent part of his public image. Throughout his presidency and post-office years, he frequently attacked major news outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, and NBC, claiming bias and unfair coverage.
Late-night hosts, including Seth Meyers, have often used their platforms to satirize Trump’s policies and personality — a practice that has fueled the former president’s resentment toward the entertainment industry.
About Seth Meyers
Seth Meyers, 51, is a comedian, writer, and host of Late Night with Seth Meyers, which premiered in 2014 on NBC. Known for his sharp political monologues and satirical commentary, Meyers gained national attention for his work on Saturday Night Live before transitioning to late-night television.
Despite Trump’s attacks, Late Night with Seth Meyers continues to maintain a loyal audience, praised for its intelligent humor and topical segments.
